Monkey Majic

Posted by jepoyzter under Music

At last I found it! I’ve been looking for this song for a very long time. Its a Japanese song. As far as I can remember. I first heard of the song in a TV commercial I dont know when and where. Then all of a sudden like a month ago, it was played on the radio. It took me like an hour to figure it out where did I first heard of it and I remember that its a song from a car commercial. Now the problem which car? Definitely its a Japanese brand since the song is in Japanese. I tried looking on YouTube but no luck. Then I forgot about it and all of a sudden I found myself humming to the tune of the song. LSS… and today I fuond it. Took me like the whole afternoon searching all over the internet. Now I wanna share it with you guys.

Monkey Majik

It’s from a Japanese band called “Monkey Majic”, according to WIKI:

MONKEY MAJIK is a Japanese rock band. The band consists of guitarists/vocalists Maynard and Blaise Plant, brothers who sing in Japanese and English; drummer Takuya “tax” Kikuchi (菊池拓哉, Kikuchi Takuya?); and bassist DICK. The Plant brothers originally hail from Canada. Though most famous Japanese singers and bands live in Tokyo, they still live in Sendai which is about 350km away from Tokyo.

I kinda like their style, mixed culture and mixed music. More like alternative than pop.

And the song that never left my head for weeks now is called “光朝”. Enjoy the tune. :)

Hillsong’s “This Is Our God” Live Worship Album

Posted by jepoyzter under Faith, Music

July. What’s so special about this month? Ahhhhhhhhhhhh….. new Hillsong live worship yeah. The most anticipated month the year for anyone whose been listening and loving their songs and the way they worship.

I got the chance to listen and watch the album on CD and DVD. Just like my reaction every year. It’s A-W-E-S-O-M-E, great songs, and great voices. Though this album introduced much more new faces compared to the past albums they made. I can’t even count how many they are. I am still glad to see Darlene Zschech, Marty Sampson, and Reuben Morgan. I think it wouldn’t be complete without them.

Though my main concern is the price of their CD. I checked their online store and found out that the cost of the CD and DVD increased. If I could still remember a year or two years ago, they were $10 AUD cheaper. Sigh… I wish when their CD and DVD are already available here it would be the same standard price like it was before.

For a sneak peak of the album, listen to my favorite track from the album so far. Plus! a video of Healer. Enjoy!

Jason Mraz

Posted by jepoyzter under Music

Saw a friend of mine posted a video of Jason Mraz on Facebook. Jason performed the song “I’m Yours” at Ootmarsum in Netherlands. Jason had his audience do a little interaction while singing the song which went very well.

I like Jason Mraz. His songs are catchy and his voice is so versatile that he can sing any genre. And I’ve been listening to his latest album “We Sing, We Dance, and We Steal Things.” Though I’ve just download it few weeks ago. Today, I just bought a copy of his CD.

The whole album is great. Lots of mixed and fresh sounds I never heard before and also Jason had a duet with Colbie Caillat too.

Read more to watch Jason Mraz’s official video of “I’m Yours” after the jump. Enjoy!

Across The Universe

Posted by jepoyzter under Movies, Music

I just finished watching “Across The Universe”.

Synopsis from IMDB:

An original musical film, Across The Universe is a fictional love story set in the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, the struggle for free speech and civil rights, mind exploration and rock and roll. At once gritty, whimsical and highly theatrical, the story moves from high schools and universities in Massachusetts, Princeton and Ohio to the Lower East Side of Manhattan, the Detroit riots, Vietnam and the dockyards of Liverpool. A combination of live action and animation, the film is paired with many songs by The Beatles that defined the time.

I haven’t heard about this movie before till a friend of mine downloaded and share it with me.

The movie is really good. I wonder why it didn’t make it into the mainstream? Hmmmm…. It was never been screened here. Should I wonder why?

Anyway what I was saying was, the overall movies is good! Creatively done. The story is so so, but the actors really give justice to their roles and their voice are really good.  One thing that out stand in this movie the most is its soundtrack. Yeah the soundtrack, lots of Beatles songs are used in this film. Though I am not really familiar with some of them but I know a few like “Hey Jude”, “Let It Be”, and “Across the Universe”.

The artistic design they used in this movie is very creative, you’ll really see lots of beautiful graphic arts and designs that I must say inspired me a lot.

Recently bought CDs

Had a quick tour at ELIM yesterday check out new released albums… and there fly a couple of cash… but its worth it. I love the selections this time.

Gateway Worship “Wake Up The World”

My much awaited follow up live worship album by Gateway Worship. The band that sang one among my favorite song “Every Breath” from the previous album “Living For You”. Listening to their new album is somewhat like brings excitement to me, just like the feeling I felt everytime Hillsong releases a new worship album.

I really recomend this album to those who want something fresh and like loud worship song. Their style is not that far from Hillsong’s style. But if you want something that would divert your long playlist of Hillsong songs for a while. Definitely this album is really just for you.

Jared Anderson “Where Faith Comes From”

Jared Anderson is now back… back… back… with his new solo album “Where Faith Comes From”. I think just few month ago Jared and his band “Desperation Band” just released a live worship album “Everyone Overcome”.

So far I like this second album more than the first one. Though it includes the songs “Promises” and “Ready Now” from Desperation Band’s first album. Other tracks are really good and catchy. I already have some favorite songs in this album like “Glorified”, “Call To Me” and “This Is Life”. Plus I like the album cover hehehehe…

On to the new found ones…..

Paradise “Set Me Free”

Heard their song being played at the store, not bad. Paradise is a band from Australia (again). Now I am counting how many churches are there in Australia.

Actually this album is quite old already dated 2004. But this is the first I heard of them, and I already started to like some of their song in this album. My favorite “Set Me Free” and “Longing For You”.

I looked at their site and seems like they released a new album this year. Will check it out soon.

Deluge Band “Deluge”

I was just really intrigued with the cover of this album. Not the typical live worship album recording cover, if compared to Hillsong or other band including stated above. Then listen to a couple of songs at the listening station, and heard some good ones.

Hmmmm I think some will complain again how loud they are, but I like loud.

American Idol: David Cook (Bravo!!!)

Posted by jepoyzter under Music

Now I regret not watching American Idol. After 6 seasons, this is the first time I hear something really really good. The best ever performance and cover in history of American Idol (for me…. and I think most of us would share the same sentiments, or not).

Last week, I think. Idols perform Mariah Carey’s hits and judge by the her herself. I say, I didn’t watch the whole show. But while browsing and reading some of the blogs I visit on a regular basis. A song just started playing on the background. Since, I am used to tabbed browsing using Firefox and I have lots of tabs opened. One by one, I started looking for the site. And behold, I saw this pic. DAVID COOK!

At first I didn’t know he’s from Americal Idol Season 7. So I started looking for his song on MIRC where I download most of my mp3s. But no luck, nothing came out. So I started Googling his name. There he is…. I just love his cover of Mariah Carey’s “Always Be My Baby”, not a really guys song. But David Cook is the man! He did it flawlessly, the crowd loved it, the judges loved it, and I had goosebumps… Watch David Cook’s performance below.

Now, who wouldn’t have goosebumps with that kind of performance? I agree to all judges comments. Specially Paula’s comment. Galing!!!!!

To listen to David Cook’s studio version of this song.

Catching up with music…

Posted by jepoyzter under Music

I say listening again to Christian music quite give me a pinch. Its been 3 months since I stopped listening to Christian music. I even delete then on my iPod and store in a drive I no longer use. I thought I would never listen to them again.

Yesterday on my way back from lunch, I decided to check out if ELIM already have Hillsong’s latest UNITED LIVE album. I felt quite a little bit weird, and seemed like I standing on a unknown genre.

Since what I am looking for is not yet available, I just browsed some shelves while listening to the music being played at the store and it quite pleased my ears. I approach the counter and ask what album they are playing. Its Lakewood’s compilation of their best music “Better Than Life”. Since I don’t have Lakewood in my CD collection, and I hear less of their original songs. Maybe its not bad to get a copy. I did and listened to it as I got back to my 4 feet/sqr cubicle.

I just visited Integrity Music’s webpage, and they have some new interesting album releases. Like:

  • Gateway Worship’s – Wake Up
  • Jared Anderson’s – Where Faith Comes From
  • Hillsong United Live – The I Heart Revolution: With Hearts As One (Part 1)

Some albums that are new to me are:

  • Bethany’s Live Worship Album – Deluge
  • Worth Dying For (I think this is a slef-title album)
  • Superchick (I discovered from Mike’s blog with video)
